Varshets is one of the most significant spa resorts in Bulgaria, located in Stara Planina mountain region, below the peak Todorini Kukli. The settlement has been founded around the numerous mineral springs and its name has always been closely related to the healing mineral waters and the balneology. It s alkaline, with low mineralization, and contains aluminum, barium, iron, lithium, phosphates and other chemical elements, recommended for the treatment of diseases of the central nervous system, hear diseases etc.

It has been mentioned about Varshets in Byzantine chronicles back in the VI century. Varshets was declared a national spa resort in 1950, and a town in 1964.

The town features a Picture Gallery, a Municipality Museum, and of course, an extensive choice of hotels and guest houses , which accommodate the many tourists, coming here to spend a few days enjoying the tranquility, the fresh and clean mountain air, and the mineral waters.One of the sites not to be missed around Varshets is the site “The waterfall” (Vodopada).
